What is JPEGCompress?
JPEGCompress is computer software that is designed to assist in the compression of large photos, through an easy-to-use interface, for the purpose of distributing those photos over the Internet.
JPEGCompress does this by simplifying the compression process and stripping all unnecessary data, such as EXIF information, from the photo.
What makes JPEGCompress better than other programs?
JPEGCompress presents you with an instant preview of what your compressed photo will look like, as well as how large the photo's file size is, and how long that photo will take to download over slower Internet connections. All of that information is provided for any Photo Quality Level between 0 (lowest) and 100 (highest).
JPEGCompress also offers you the ability to conduct minor editing in photos. By minor we mean Resizing, Cropping, Flipping and Rotating, as well as photo effects like Blur, Sharpen, Find Edges, Invert and more.
What else can JPEGCompress do?
Let's imagine that you have hundreds of photos that all need to be resized, compressed, and renamed in sequence. It would take you hours, right? Not with the Batch Processing Wizard! This wizard makes processing multiple photos easy. Choose your photos, apply your settings, and sit back while the wizard does all the work for you!
Sending photos via Email? Publishing photos to your Web Site? JPEGCompress has Wizards for those tasks as well. The Send to Email Recipient and Send to Web Site Wizards make the process of uploading and sending photos fast and easy.
JPEGCompress also includes a lot of other useful features like Drag & Drop Support, Internet Explorer Integration, and even a Simple Slide Show. All of which are described within the JPEGCompress Help Topics (accessable via the Help menu).
What photo types does JPEGCompress support?
JPEGCompress natively supports the GIF, JPEG, PNG, Portable Bitmap and X-Window image formats, and includes partial support for Windows Bitmaps. Additionally, users who have
QuickTime installed on their computers will be able to use JPEGCompress to read and write almost any type of photo that QuickTime can.
This includes support for Adobe Photoshop, JPEG 2000, MacPaint, PICT, QTIF, SGI, TIFF, Truevision TGA, Windows Bitmap images and even QuickTime Movies.
